St. Catharines firm at the leading edge of helping Canadians save money and share data safely

The Canadian Press is reporting that cashback and reward apps are helping Canadians save as concerns over data collection rise. St. Catharines-based data insights firm Caddle Canada is at the leading edge of helping Canadian consumers shop and save in an especially cost-conscious time by rewarding them for safely sharing their data with brands.

Caddle is a Canadian data insights marketplace that gives you cash back for answering surveys, uploading receipts, watching videos, and interacting with their offers. Using Caddle is similar to the experience of participating in a focus group in a virtual setting with short questionnaires. Caddle is a free app that rewards consumers for engaging with brands and sharing their data. In return, brands get access to data and insights to enable them to make better decisions, faster.

The information Caddle deals with can be incredibly valuable for Canadian brands, Ransom Hawley, who started a cashback app seven years ago, after working for Ziploc- and Windex-maker SE Johnson tells Canadian Press.

“It was just really difficult for me to get good data and insights that were Canadian and recent,” he adds. “The Walmarts and Nestles, they don’t want personally identifiable data. The vast majority of the data that we sell is just aggregated and anonymized.”
