St. Catharines' Paz Bakery wins 2023 Ontario Made Award

Congratulations to Paloma Lara and Andrew Hoto from Paz Bakery for being recognized with the 2023 Ontario Made Consumer Awareness Award.

Paz Bakery is a frozen food manufacturing company specializing in wholesome, natural, and gluten-free ready-to-bake products. Inspired by the traditional way of making Brazilian pão de queijo, their Cheese Dots are naturally gluten-free cheese buns made in small batches using high-quality local ingredients and one of the oldest cheeses in Canada, Oka.

Cheese Dots and Paz Bakery’s Waffles, made from the same dough, are easy and versatile, inviting people to gather around the table to share comforting food that makes everyone feel good. Paz Bakery products can be found throughout Southern Ontario in gourmet retail locations and in many Real Canadian Superstores.

Ontario Made was created and is managed by Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) to bring together manufacturers and makers, retailers, and consumers to celebrate and promote the many world-class products that are made right here. Although Paz Bakery’s product was a new concept to Canadians, the presence of the Ontario Made logo on packaging and marketing materials has allowed people to recognize it as local, rather than just another important, and take a chance on something new.

Paloma and Andrew were finalists in the same category in 2022. The Ontario Made Awards celebrate and recognize outstanding Ontario manufacturers and retailers that help consumers make informed decisions in increasing the sale and awareness of Ontario-made products. Congrats Paloma and Andrew, TeamSTC wishes you continued success.

St. Catharines is still a preferred location for manufacturing in the Niagara Region and the food and beverage segment offer substantial promise with specialty and artisanal foods, craft brewing, micro-distilling and hard cider production continuing to take hold.
